About Us

Angela Harrison, Therapist
Angela is the Lead Music Therapist with the Centre. She enjoyed a professional career as a viola player with the Halle Orchestra before training on the MA in Music Therapy course in Cambridge. Angela joined the Centre in 1993 as an assistant, and took up her post as a Therapist in 1995. She is particularly interested in the use of music therapy with children with developmental delay or on the autistic spectrum. Angela enjoys playing chamber music for weddings and to raise money for the charity. Angela will be presenting papers in Cambridge at "The Music of Music Therapy" conference in February and Cadiz, in May, at the European Music Therapy Congress.

Jill BowmanJill Bowman, Volunteer
Jill trained as a musician at the Royal College of Music before embarking on a teaching career which took her first to run the music at a Prep school in Dorset, then to Gilling Castle in Yorkshire and finally The Minster School in York. She has for a long time been fascinated by Music Therapy and the huge benefits it can bring and decided to spend her retirement combining dogs, horses and helping the therapists of the NYMTC wherever possible and picking up jobs in the office whenever necessary. Her husband is not totally neglected in all this activity!

Lynne DawsonLynne Dawson, President
“I am proud that the charity is continuing its invaluable work. Music therapy is such a great means of helping people - it can really excite the musical imagination. Within the security of a therapy session, people can explore all sorts of expressive possibilities without fear.”

All the therapists are registered with the Health Professions Council and are members of the professional body - the British Association for Music Therapy (BAMT).
