The project consists in ten weekly group music therapy sessions. Music therapy sessions will be weekly and started in October. Sessions will be free.

Our (NYMTC) qualified and HCPC registered therapist, Jane Troughton, will support the group in creating a non-judgemental and unpressurised environment where attendees will find strategies for emotional regulation, positive and creative ways of self-expression.

The therapist will engage participants with different activities such as group music-making, listening, creation or sharing of songs, verbalisation. The main aim of the project is to support individuals, and to make them feel valued members of the community.

The sessions will be run in our (NYMTC) premises, the Byre, which provides a calm welcoming physical space where people can meet in a safe environment, experience the power of music and music-making and, through exploration and self-expression, be encouraged to achieve their own personal goals.

If you, or the organisation you work for, is interested in taking part in the project, please complete the NYMTC Referral form. Referral forms can be for an individual or for a group of people.

The referee will need to email the referral form to

enquiries@music-therapy.org, marking it as Confidential.

The referee will be then contacted by the Charity or the therapist to discuss the referral.
