BBC Features North Yorkshire Music Therapy Centre

We’re delighted to share that the North Yorkshire Music Therapy Centre is currently being featured by the BBC.

In a moving new article, the BBC highlights the story of Peter Nash and his family, showing how music therapy enables him to express himself and connect with the world around him. As his father so beautifully says, “When there's music, you can see that the world comes alive for him.”

The feature also shines a light on our Sunshine Singers Dementia Friendly Singing Group in Hovingham, where music brings joy, connection and brighter days to people living with dementia, stroke recovery, and other challenges.

Thanks to your support, last year we delivered over 850 music therapy sessions to more than 250 people across North Yorkshire. Every session makes a difference.

As mentioned in the BBC coverage, we are currently working to raise £100,000 to safeguard and expand our services keeping community sessions free and continuing to subsidise schools, care homes and hospices facing tight budgets.

We’re incredibly proud to see the transformative power of music therapy recognised in this way and we’re so grateful to have you as part of our community.
