Music is a powerful tool to stimulate parts of the brain linked to our emotional and autobiographical memory. In these sessions the facilitator will sing and play familiar songs encouraging participants to join in and share memories and emotions.
Community Groups & Music Therapy Hubs
At The North Yorkshire Music Therapy Centre, we have proudly delivered a wide range of community groups and music therapy hubs across Yorkshire, creating accessible opportunities for people to connect, express themselves, and improve their wellbeing through music. Our programmes have included Music for Wellness, Life in Tune, Steps Singers, Singing for the Brain, and Beat It, each designed to support the unique needs of different communities. Through these initiatives, we have worked with individuals experiencing mental health challenges, dementia, eating disorders, and other health and wellbeing concerns, helping to foster confidence, social connection, emotional expression, and a greater sense of belonging.
