Music is a powerful tool to stimulate parts of the brain linked to our emotional and autobiographical memory. In these sessions the facilitator will sing and play familiar songs encouraging participants to join in and share memories and emotions.

Soundspace

Soundspace is a music therapy project delivered by North Yorkshire Music Therapy Centre in Scarborough, supporting children and young people aged 8 and over who may be experiencing difficulties in education, struggling with their mental health or emotional wellbeing, or at risk of exclusion from school.

Through 1:1 music therapy and group music-making sessions, Soundspace provides a safe, welcoming and supportive environment where young people can express themselves, build confidence, develop communication and social skills, and form positive relationships through music.

Sessions are person-centred and tailored to individual needs, with no musical experience or ability required. Activities may include songwriting, exploring instruments, improvisation and listening to music.

Sessions must be booked in advance. Please get in touch to discuss referrals, availability or further information
